A native of Alabama, Dr. Taylor attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, finishing up with his Family Practice residency training in Tuscaloosa. He then practiced for 21 years in a small community in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, mostly as senior partner in a group of three to four health care providers. Pursuing his and his family's interest in living in the West, Dr. Taylor moved to Los Alamos in 2000 to join Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico. He left in 2005 to start Care First, LLC, giving substance to his dream of creating a different kind of family practice. He is board-certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Practice. He has a long-standing interest in quality communications and ethics. His personal interests include history, golf, hiking, politics, travel, and spending time with friends and family. Care First strives for more personal relationships between patients and providers. Thus the practice name Care First. Key goals for Dr. Taylor and CARE FIRST are:
Dr. Taylor provides care for patients age 8 and older. Patients who require hospitalization are admitted to Los Alamos Medical Center, where he is actively involved on the Medical Staff. He not only does routine adult and adolescent medical care, but also gynecological exams, minor surgery, freezing of skin lesions (cryotherapy), treating minor injuries, and even the occasional house call. Dr. Taylor, like most Family Practitioners, handles about 80 to 90 percent of his patients medical needs, but is glad to refer to specialists for the more complex or serious conditions. |
